Ways of the Seven
The estranged wife of the abusive alcoholic James, Gretta was uncovered by way of James when the party contacted him in a Falconcrest prison. James complained that, although he admitted to beating his wife, she provoked him with strange and violent behavior and obsession with some sort of “crazy cult.”
When the party, then consisting only of Solovey and Oracius, arrived at her squalid room in the Undercity, they found her disheveled and deranged. She spoke disjointedly about the cult, and her master, the Prodigal. The encounter ended in tragedy when she recognized the brand on Solovey’s face and suffered a violent outburst, running into the street shrieking. Attempting to stop her, the two heroes pursued, only to see her reveal a brand or carving similar to Solovey’s gouged into her arm. As she writhed, the brand on her arm spewed gouts of blood, more than seemingly possible. Gretta was transformed, dead yet walking, and attacked the party before being finally put out of her misery by the two heroes. Unfortunately, it was her death that first got the authorities of Falconcrest involved in the case, and forced Solovey and Oracius to plunge further into the dangerous, criminal underworld in their attempts to stay ahead of the cult and the law.
