Ways of the Seven
Dwarves in Ontentzu
Ages ago, in the days of the First Emperor, the seven Ontenzin tribes fled over the Devil Spine Mountains. The were fleeing a great oppressor, an empire of armored demons who drove the Ontenzins off their ancestral lands. To even reach the Devil Spine they had to cross a hundred miles of oni-wracked badlands. Then the frozen, dagger-like peaks were too formidable even for the tough Ontenzin survivors. When the remaining survivors were on the verge of turning back in defeat, they were approached by an armed group of wary dwarves who offered to parley. The Ontenzins were received in the underground halls of Untuun, the great dwarven metropolis city-state that rules the Devil Spine. But the majority of the Untuun clans were against the foreigners, and were in favor of only allowing them time to regain their health and supplies and then casting them back. Passage over the Devil Spine would only be possible with the help of dwarves, and the Ontenzins were desperate to avoid being ejected back onto the mountainside and below it the monster-filled wastes. The leaders of the seven tribes of Ontentzu made a pact with the leaders of thirteen dwarven clans: the Bunrei, the Doku, the Goho, the Sapporo, the Iainagi, the Iappudo, the Koro, the Fujisuni, the Yorirei, the Uunbo, the Jozo, the Teppunikku, and the Pinyintoo.
